jBASE International Announces Appointment as a Principal Sponsor for Commonwealth-wide Golden Tapestry - Children's Tapestry of Hope
London, UK -- 12 November 2003 -- jBASE International, along with their parent company Mpower1 International Ltd., have today signed an agreement to become a principal sponsor for the Golden Tapestry - Children's Tapestry of Hope, a collaboration of children in 1,800 primary and special schools across the whole Commonwealth to create an artwork telling the story of a year in the life of the Commonwealth through their eyes.
Specifically designed so that the individual squares form a single coherent story, the tapestry, judging from the canvases already completed, will reveal the children’s strong feeling of pride in their schools and communities as well as great confidence in the future. There are schools in twenty-two countries who have already signed up, and schools in a further ten or so are expected to join them in the next few weeks.
As a principal
sponsor of the Golden Tapestry, jBASE and Mpower1 will assist in
various ways to help ensure the success of the project. Along with
the provision of new computer equipment for the Millennium Tapestry
Company, jBASE and Mpower1 are designing and hosting the official
web site for the project
www.goldentapestry.com . The site will be "powered by jBASE"
and implemented using jBASE Web Builder - a fully featured toolset
from jBASE International,
which provides a quick and easy methodology for writing and
implementing Internet
applications.
The Millennium Tapestry Company, the organizers of both the completed United Kingdom Millennium Tapestry and the new pan-Commonwealth Golden Tapestry, are delighted by the immensely valuable contribution to the project made by jBASE and Mpower1, a contribution which, through the establishment on the web site of teachers’ forums to link schools across the Commonwealth and enable them to share best practice in education, will also help achieve many Commonwealth governments’ aspirations in improving the quality of their primary education.
